Working With Children Policy
Waroona Redbacks requires all coaches to have a current Working With Children check.
The Working With Children check (WWC check) is a comprehensive criminal record check for certain people in child related work in Western Australia.
The WWC check aims to increase the safety of children in our community by helping to prevent people who have a criminal history that indicates they may harm children from working with children.
The WWC check lasts for three (3) years. Once obtained, you can use your WWC card for any paid or voluntary child related work. It is compulsory for people in child related work in WA.
People not in child related work must not apply for this check - it is different to a NAtional Police Check.
You can start or continue child related work with your receipt from Australia Post with some exceptions. WWC checks are the only way employers and volunteer organisations can ensure their organisation is child safe.
You do not require a WWC check if:
- you are under eighteen (18) years of age
- you are a parent volunteering in connection with your child's activity (unless you are involved in an overnight camp)
